Over the summer, Illustrator Sam Chivers had the great privilege of doing a series of six posters for the Lawn Tennis Association (the governing body for tennis in Great Britain.)
Sam had a number of conversations surrounding the creative approach in depicting the crowd (which is a tricky thing to depict in any illustrated poster.) “Being something of a maximalist, my initial strategy was to go more detailed, but crowds are so visually noisy we had to pare them back to make the images more legible.” The final results are iconic, bright depictions of various tennis tournaments overseen by the LTA.
