What do memories look like? That is the question artist George Klauba attempts to answer in this mini documentary written, produced, and directed by his friend Saverio Truglia earlier this year. As he studies WWII souvenirs and issues of old Life magazines, Mr. Klauba recalls the stories he often heard as a young boy told by returning veterans of the war. It’s these sometimes disturbing stories, and the artifacts that signify them, which aid him in piecing together the powerful visual narrative woven through his paintings and help him capture what these stories “look” like.
