Workbook Illustration and Photo Fall Books

One of the most interesting and challenging things we do all year is to select cover imagery. You might say we approach it as if we are  putting together a compelling portfolio spread where two images compliment each other, but also stand on their individual strengths. The most important consideration though, is what the images convey about the depth and the level of talent we represent here at Workbook.

This time around, the Workbook has an urban theme. Illustration cover artist, Tracie Ching, is a self-taught artist whose work is highly graphic and a reflection of many years working in the medium of silkscreen printing. The illustration on the Workbook cover was initially created for the Ted Baker and Moore flagship store in London for use as a visual anchor for a display and features the complex, graphic line work and limited palette for which she has become known. The client was specific about wanting an image that had a PopArt, comic book feel, and when you see it installed, it’s clearly the right choice on which to add the lighting and other elements.
Lee Brimble of the UK is a serious “petrol-head,” who has turned his passion for all things automotive into a successful career as a respected, in-demand car photographer. He has traveled the world shooting stills and motion for clients such as Honda, Rolls Royce, BMW, Range Rover, Chevrolet, and others. He brings an urban sophistication to his work that is evident in the image we chose for this edition of Workbook. It was initially shot as an 8pp feature about the new Rolls Royce Black Badge on a night drive through London for HR Owen’s, a large car dealership in the UK.
Thank you Tracie and Lee for your beautiful imagery!
