Some people seem to make better portrait subjects than others, and Donald Trump is one of those people. Illustrators seem to be having a great time interpreting him as a blowfish, a hot-air balloon, and Batman, just to name a few examples.

Illustrator Jacob Thomas, the creator of the Batman portrait, will soon exhibit a whole array of Trump portraits at the Chicago Degenerate Art Gallery, opening on April 1st. The series on display is a culmination of what began as a guerrilla art campaign featuring “Trump as Batman” on the streets of Chicago. It was spotted by gallery owner Nicholas Zahn, who made it his mission to track down Jacob. As Trump’s popularity surged, so did Jacob’s output of Trump portraits. Jacobs hopes that by combining humor with activism he is able to contribute to the political debate in a meaningful way.

“I actually believe in what I’m doing,” Jacob says. “I think it’s important, and its scary there’s a possibility that he’s going to be our president, so that continues to fuel me…..” See more of what he has to say in his full interview with WGNTV in Chicago.
