Andy Goodwin for SunCoke

Andy Goodwin is no stranger to shooting in dirty, gritty, and sometimes dangerous conditions, as can be seen in the  Workforce gallery on his site. This recent campaign for SunCoke, a company that processes raw materials serving the steel, coal, and power industries, required his team  to suit up in full-body protective gear every morning before heading out to shoot. What made this project a bit unusual though was the lack of creative guidance on location. “Here are the addresses, go make cool pictures” was the only direction they received, and that is what they did. They captured these men going about their often dangerous work, but who seem confident in their ability to get the job done. Andy says, “In the end, the client was thrilled with the results, and more locations are planned for the future.”
