His feet now firmly planted in film production, photographer/director Jim Vecchione and his crew at Vecchione Print and Film handled every aspect of this latest production: editing, graphic transition art, castings, voice over, music selection, filming, production, crew, etc. For each of the 15-second spots, the challenge was to visually identify a neighborhood in only eight seconds, and in the remaining seven seconds, visually transition into the image of the scratcher for each neighborhood.
Like most big urban cities, D.C. is managed chaos, and Jim and his crew found themselves revising their locations plans on the fly to adapt to an ever-changing landscape due to unexpected road work, street festivals, traffic flow, and the occasional landmark renovation. To produce 12 spots of 15 seconds in length, each neighborhood required scouting and finding at least 5 scenes that would work for each neighborhood before filming could begin. Scouting and pre-production required about two months.
We’ve posted a few of the spots her, but to see more go to his Workbook portfolio online.
