While working on editorial/travel assignments for Conde Nast Traveler in locations like Myanmar, Seville and others, Brian Maranan Pineda would create imagery in a loose, personal style and when time permitted, took the opportunity to experiment and hone his skills in live action. In his earlier travel and editorial work, he tells us,” I would try to hone my skills on editing and storytelling. For me, since I come from a strictly photography background, directing has been entirely different way of thinking, concepting, and telling the story.” He has put what he learned to good use on his in his latest project for De’Longhi Coffee.
For this latest production he was provided with a very rough storyboard, and from there he created a shot list and determined how he wanted to tell the story in live action. He worked with DP, Ed Davis, who understood the mood and rhythm he was trying to achieve. They recorded interviews with the subject of the “story,” fashion illustrator Meagan Morrison, as she tells us about her love for travel and her passion for her work while she is painting in her studio and walking the streets of New York.
Brian is hoping to continue directing this sort of branded lifestyle and travel content that engages the viewer in new and creative ways.
