“My favorite project of 2019 was a personal shoot of a nine-year-old girl named Stella. I loved following her around and just letting her be. She was so present and natural. The light was perfect.”
"Great Exuma, one of the 'Out Islands' of the Bahamas, is home to miles of white sand, gin clear waters, and more fish than people. Surprises like this rustic swing on Cocoplum Beach make it even more a dream come true." Per Breiehagen
"This was one of my favorite projects in 2019 because it was the hardest adventure of my life. Summiting the 8,310-foot Luna peak in the most rugged range of the Lower 48 with Max Djenohan from Discovery's Naked and Afraid! Definitely a trip I will never forget." Mac Holt
"From the first call with the agency, the job was meant to be. Conversations with the the creative, Zac Neulieb, were always open-ended as he wanted my ideas for both creative direction and execution. Everything, including suggested nudity, was on the table. As ideas firmed up, I delivered sketches so the team knew my vision and could give useful feedback. We also shot in LA, which always feels like a working retreat." Saverio Truglia
"In October, I went to Chile as the photographer on a documentary team from Red Hat Films, shooting a film on sustainable use of resources in that country. We stayed and worked in Santiago, as well as Pomaire, a small town south of the capital that is home to a unique group of traditional potters. We traveled as far south as Patagonia, where we hiked to a glacier, faced 100-km winds and learned not to let go of car doors when we opened them (the wind will literally tear the door off of your car). We learned the proper way to drink maté, and we met some amazing people who are are seeing the effects of global warming in the unique micro-climates of Patagonia and are actively doing something about it." Client: Courvoisier
Photographer: Bill Cahill"It was fun making the clients' 2D drawing into an expanded 3D Set and collaborating with the craftsmen to make it come together, so the photographer could light it and shoot it." Photostylist:Robin Del Pino
"The creative director and client essentially gave me carte blanche within a broad set of parameters. This shoot had it all: it was FUN, we had a great group of people with strong work ethics (from client to crew to talent and locations), plenty of problem solving opportunities, AND we were able to surpass the client's expectations in a huge way, shooting about four days worth of material in two days. I think we all slept for days days straight after the shoot." Steve Peixotto
"This project was commissioned by Tablet Hotels + MICHELIN. It was a one man band affair. I did all the camera work and audio recording myself. It was directed by Lucy Lieberman from Tablet Hotels and I and edited by Yilin Yuan. The Blue Duck Tavern—the restaurant where the event took place—is one of my favorites in Washington, D.C., and I jumped at the opportunity to get to peek behind the curtain a bit." Eli Meir Kaplan
"This was a shoot was for SimpliSafe, a tech company that makes video doorbells and at-home security. It was done in conjunction with HireStory, who was simultaneously filming to create a brand video, and for Bayard Advertising in New York. We shot in the middle of downtown Boston, where the headquarters are located. The aim was to capture employee culture using current employees as models." Adrian Baird
Client: Pepsico / Agency: Matchmg
"Great client, great agency, great product, and beautiful art direction...everything you could hope for in a project." Michael Maes
"Knowing actor Brett Gelman since he was a child, it was particularly moving to work with him in the midst of winning his first Emmy award. The energizing and collaborative photoshoot made it a “Best of 2019” for me." Paul Elledge
Project title: Designer Breeds
"This was my favorite project because I created all of the props. I wanted something where I was able to get crafty. The title Designer Breeds is a play-off of designer dog breeds: two purebred dogs that are bred to create a desired hybrid, such as a Labradoodle. However, the designer in this series was famous fashion brands, Louie Vuitton, Comme de Garcon, Chanel, and Gucci." Shaina Fishman
